RVSM Certifications:
The goal of RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums) is to reduce the vertical separation above flight level 290 from 2,000 feet to 1,000 feet to allow aircraft to safely fly more optimum profiles, gain fuel savings and increase airspace capacity.  Only aircraft with specially certified altimeters and autopilots may fly in RVSM airspace.
